Pull-Through Rivet

[Summary]: Toprecision Pull-Through Rivet: double-sided flush blind fastener for precision engineering....
Pull-Through Rivet

I. Core Structural Principle (Unique Toprecision Feature)

1. Pull-Through Hollow-Core Design
Conventional blind rivets leave a broken mandrel head embedded inside the workpiece after installation. In contrast, the Toprecision Pull-Through Rivet allows the entire mandrel to be completely withdrawn from the rear side during riveting, leaving no metal fragments or internal foreign objects.

2. Double Countersunk Flush Structure
Both ends feature a countersunk profile, ensuring a completely flat surface on both sides of the workpiece after fastening. Rear-side protrusion is ≤0.4mm—virtually flush—preventing interference with assembly or abrasion of adjacent components.

3. One-Piece Mandrel Locking
The mandrel head remains integrally connected to the shank throughout the riveting process, eliminating the risk of fragment shedding that could cause electrical shorts, noise, or wear.

II. Material and Specification Parameters

Standard Materials

  • Standard version: Full carbon steel (C1006/1010), zinc-plated for corrosion resistance—high strength, cost-effective.

  • Optional: Stainless steel 304/316 for outdoor, humid, or corrosive environments; Aluminum version for lightweight thin-sheet applications.

Standard Sizes

  • Nominal diameters: 3.2mm / 4.0mm / 4.8mm

  • Lengths matched to grip ranges covering 0.5–6mm multi-layer thickness

  • 90° standard countersunk head, compatible with pre-countersunk holes

III. Key Advantages

  1. No Internal Debris – Maximum Safety
No loose metal particles remain inside electronic devices or precision appliances, eliminating risks of short circuits, rattling, or PCB damage.

  2. Flush on Both Sides – Space-Saving
Zero protrusion on either side makes it ideal for tight interlayers, sliding components (drawers, rails, interior panels).

  3. Stable Clamping Force – Vibration-Resistant & Anti-Loosening
Uniform radial clamping ensures secure fastening even under vibration—suitable for automotive and cabinet-mounted equipment.

  4. Thin-Sheet & Brittle Substrate Compatible
Even load distribution prevents crushing of thin aluminum, plastic, FRP, or PCB materials.

  5. Visual Size Identification
Mandrels of different lengths feature color-coded identification for quick on-site sorting and reduced assembly errors.

IV. Typical Application Industries

  1. Electronics & Electrical (Primary Application)
Laptops, industrial enclosures, refrigerator/air conditioner liners, electrical control boxes, PCB mounting.

  2. Automotive Interiors
Sunroof assemblies, in-car audio housings, door panel trims, storage drawer slides.

  3. Furniture & Sheet Metal
Kitchen cabinet metal drawers, office equipment cabinets, precision toolboxes.

  4. Precision Equipment
Instrument housings, medical device enclosures, lightweight decorative metal panels.

V. Comparison with Conventional Countersunk Break-Mandrel Rivets

Parameter Toprecision Pull-Through Rivet Conventional Countersunk Break-Mandrel Rivet
Mandrel Treatment Entirely pulled out; no internal metal residue Mandrel head breaks off and remains inside the workpiece
Rear-Side Flatness Double countersunk; rear protrusion <0.4mm Obvious rear-side bulge
Suitability for Precision Equipment                     Perfectly suited for electronics and precision instruments                     Internal debris poses short-circuit risk; prohibited in precision electronics
Assembly Finish Both sides flush; no secondary finishing required Rear bulge requires additional flattening

VI. Installation Requirements

  1. Tooling: Requires a dedicated pull-through rivet gun (standard break-mandrel tools are not compatible).

  2. Panel Preparation: Workpieces must have pre-drilled 90° countersunk holes to achieve the double-sided flush effect.

  3. Compatible Substrates: Metal, plastic, fiberglass boards, and composite thin sheets.

Toprecision is committed to solving real-world precision fastening challenges through continuous innovation. This hollow-core countersunk pull-through rivet represents a flagship product in our precision hardware portfolio, overcoming the longstanding issues of debris retention, surface unevenness, and safety risks associated with traditional rivets. We deliver high-accuracy, high-stability riveting solutions for customers in the electronics, automotive, and precision equipment industries.
