Based on the latest customs statistics, from January to September 2025, against a backdrop of persistent global trade policy volatility and fluctuating manufacturing market demand, China's fastener industry demonstrated strong export resilience. The cumulative total export value reached USD 7,551,644,470, representing an 8.81% increase compared to the same period in 2024, with the overall scale maintaining a steady expansion trend. Notably, while traditional coastal export provinces continued to dominate the overall landscape, certain inland regions achieved remarkable growth driven by their unique geographical and policy advantages, with the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region standing out as a "dark horse" in the export landscape.
In terms of monthly trends, exports started the year with strong momentum in early 2025, with January's single-month export value surpassing the USD 1 billion mark, laying a solid foundation for the full year. Although subsequent months experienced fluctuations due to international environmental factors, the overall export performance for the first three quarters maintained positive growth, demonstrating that Chinese fastener products continue to possess strong comprehensive competitiveness in the international market.
From the perspective of export destination structure, the ranking of major export markets in the first three quarters showed no fundamental changes. The United States, Vietnam, and the Russian Federation remained the top three destination countries for Chinese fastener exports. However, segmented market dynamics revealed new characteristics: emerging markets such as the United Arab Emirates and Thailand demonstrated strong growth momentum, with their export shares surpassing traditional manufacturing powerhouses like South Korea and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, the Indian market also entered the top ten export destinations for the first time, reflecting to some extent the rapid rise of its manufacturing sector and the expanding demand for related components.
It is worth noting that although the United States launched multiple rounds of targeted tariff adjustments against China in 2025, and most of the additional tariff provisions were subsequently postponed or canceled, policy uncertainty still caused periodic shocks to bilateral trade confidence. Specific data shows that in the first three quarters of 2025, China's total fastener exports to the United States amounted to USD 967,698,606, a decrease of approximately USD 34.21 million compared to the same period last year, down 3.41% year-on-year. The decline in exports to the U.S. was most pronounced in May and June, when the impact of the initial round of tariff policies began to take effect. Nevertheless, the U.S. market remained the top destination for China's fastener exports, fully demonstrating the irreplaceable position and strong demand rigidity of Chinese products in the supply chain of that market.
Regarding the distribution of domestic export provinces, the coastal regions continued to hold an absolute leading position. Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province, and Guangdong Province ranked among the top three nationwide, with export values exceeding USD 3 billion, approximately USD 1.2 billion, and nearly USD 1 billion respectively. Zhejiang Province alone accounted for 41% of the national total export value, demonstrating significant industrial agglomeration effects. However, the most notable change this year came from the inland northwest—the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, leveraging its unique westward-opening geographical advantages and close economic and trade ties with Central Asian countries, achieved a remarkable leap in export value, successfully surpassing multiple coastal provinces including Fujian, Tianjin, and Guangxi to enter the top ten national exporters, becoming the only inland region on the list.
Further analysis of Xinjiang's export structure reveals that its market orientation differs markedly from that of coastal provinces. Among its total exports exceeding USD 200 million in the first three quarters, neighboring Central Asian countries contributed the vast majority. Exports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to USD 97.66 million, and exports to Kazakhstan reached USD 51.27 million, with these two countries alone accounting for over 70% of Xinjiang's total fastener exports. This clearly demonstrates its export path of focusing on exploring Central Asian and surrounding markets under the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
In summary, in the first three quarters of 2025, China's fastener export industry maintained steady growth amid a complex and volatile global trade environment. On the one hand, export volumes to traditional manufacturing powerhouses and key trading partners such as the United States and Vietnam remained substantial, reflecting China's first-mover advantages and supply chain position in manufacturing. On the other hand, export shares to emerging markets in Central Asia and Southeast Asia continued to rise, indicating initial success in market diversification strategies. The emergence of inland provinces such as Xinjiang not only reshaped the domestic export regional landscape but also provided new pathways and insights for the industry to explore markets along the "Belt and Road" route.
