The identified defect stems from non-compliant assembly of a key component within the engine compartment. Specifically, the fixing bolts of the engine high-pressure fuel pump may not have been tightened in accordance with standard production specifications. During prolonged vehicle operation, continuous engine vibration and thermal load fluctuations may further loosen under-torqued bolts, resulting in displacement of the high-pressure fuel pump or degraded sealing performance at the connecting joint.

As a core component of the fuel supply system, the high-pressure fuel pump generates high-pressure fuel required for engine operation. Loose fixing bolts may compromise the stable connection of the pump, posing a risk of fuel leakage at the joint. Fuel leakage can lead to abnormal engine operation and degraded vehicle performance. Contact with hot exhaust manifolds, electrical short circuits or other potential ignition sources during vehicle driving or parking will substantially increase the risk of vehicle fire, posing severe safety threats to occupants and surrounding environments. In addition, unburned hydrocarbon pollutants from fuel leakage will be directly discharged into the atmosphere, causing air pollution and resulting in emission-related hazards.

To completely eliminate the aforementioned safety and emission risks, the Bentley division of Volkswagen Automobile (China) Sales Co., Ltd. has formulated definitive and effective corrective measures. Through its nationwide authorized dealer network, the brand will proactively contact affected vehicle owners and provide free professional inspection and maintenance services.

The detailed solution is as follows: Dealers will first inspect and verify the tightening torque of all high-pressure fuel pump fixing bolts on affected vehicles. Any under-torqued bolts will be retightened strictly in accordance with standardized procedures. If inspection reveals damage or irreversible performance degradation to the high-pressure fuel pump or associated accessories (including sealing gaskets and fuel pipe connectors) caused by loose bolts, dealers will replace the entire high-pressure fuel pump assembly and all damaged accessories free of charge, restoring the fuel supply system to its optimal and safe operating condition.
