As the exclusive national distributor of Bentley in China, Volkswagen Automobile (China) Sales Co., Ltd. has recently filed and registered a defective product recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), in strict compliance with the Regulations on the Administration of Defective Automobile Product Recalls, the Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Administration of Defective Automobile Product Recalls, and the Provisions on the Administration of Motor Vehicle Emission Recalls. This initiative fully demonstrates the enterprise’s high emphasis on product safety and commitment to protecting consumer rights and interests.
According to the filed information, this recall bears the official registration number E2025M0169V. Scheduled to commence on November 3, 2025, the campaign covers specific batches of imported Bentley Flying Spur and Continental vehicles manufactured from January 27, 2025, to May 16, 2025, involving a total of 5 affected vehicles.
The identified defect stems from non-compliant assembly of a key component within the engine compartment. Specifically, the fixing bolts of the engine high-pressure fuel pump may not have been tightened in accordance with standard production specifications. During prolonged vehicle operation, continuous engine vibration and thermal load fluctuations may further loosen under-torqued bolts, resulting in displacement of the high-pressure fuel pump or degraded sealing performance at the connecting joint.
As a core component of the fuel supply system, the high-pressure fuel pump generates high-pressure fuel required for engine operation. Loose fixing bolts may compromise the stable connection of the pump, posing a risk of fuel leakage at the joint. Fuel leakage can lead to abnormal engine operation and degraded vehicle performance. More critically, leaked fuel is highly flammable. Contact with hot exhaust manifolds, electrical short circuits or other potential ignition sources during vehicle driving or parking will substantially increase the risk of vehicle fire, posing severe safety threats to occupants and surrounding environments. In addition, unburned hydrocarbon pollutants from fuel leakage will be directly discharged into the atmosphere, causing air pollution and resulting in emission-related hazards.
To completely eliminate the aforementioned safety and emission risks, the Bentley division of Volkswagen Automobile (China) Sales Co., Ltd. has formulated definitive and effective corrective measures. Through its nationwide authorized dealer network, the brand will proactively contact affected vehicle owners and provide free professional inspection and maintenance services.
The detailed solution is as follows: Dealers will first inspect and verify the tightening torque of all high-pressure fuel pump fixing bolts on affected vehicles. Any under-torqued bolts will be retightened strictly in accordance with standardized procedures. If inspection reveals damage or irreversible performance degradation to the high-pressure fuel pump or associated accessories (including sealing gaskets and fuel pipe connectors) caused by loose bolts, dealers will replace the entire high-pressure fuel pump assembly and all damaged accessories free of charge, restoring the fuel supply system to its optimal and safe operating condition.
Bentley division of Volkswagen Automobile (China) Sales Co., Ltd. will notify registered vehicle owners via multiple official channels, including but not limited to registered letters, phone calls and SMS messages. All owners of affected Bentley Flying Spur and Continental vehicles are requested to pay close attention to this recall notice.
Owners may verify whether their vehicles are involved in the recall by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the official website of the SAMR Defective Product Management Center, contacting the Bentley customer service hotline, or consulting local authorized dealers. Please schedule free maintenance services at the earliest opportunity to ensure driving safety and fulfill environmental protection obligations.
