Yongnian Fastener: 14th Five‑Year Achievements

At a press conference held by the Handan Municipal Government Information Office on November 21, the Yongnian District government detailed the district's high-quality economic development over the past five years. The fastener industry—Yongnian's pillar sector—garnered significant attention for its remarkable transformation and rapid growth.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2020–2024), Yongnian's fastener industry achieved substantial leaps across key metrics:

• Total output rose from 4.6 million tons to 7.1 million tons.

• Output value grew from RMB 30.1 billion to RMB 50 billion.

• Tax revenue increased from RMB 381 million to RMB 679 million.

Compound annual growth rates reached 9.07% for output, 10.68% for value, and 15.54% for tax revenue. The faster growth in value and tax compared to output indicates that the industry is shifting toward higher value-added and higher-quality development.

These accomplishments were driven by Yongnian's strategic focus on clustering and upgrading the fastener sector. During this period, the Yongnian fastener industrial cluster was recognized as a national-level SME characteristic industrial cluster and was also included in the provincial key cultivation list. Additionally, a pioneering shared manufacturing monitoring pilot was officially established in Yongnian, exploring new digital transformation pathways for the industry.

Significant progress was also made in public service platforms and innovation capacity:

• A provincial-level quality inspection and testing center was completed.

• A dedicated industrial technology research institute was established to tackle key technological challenges.

• A national-level public service platform was built to support cluster enterprises.

• Most notably, the nation's first professional college focused solely on fastener talent was launched, addressing the long-standing shortage of skilled professionals and providing strong talent and intellectual support for sustainable industry growth.

Overall, the 14th Five-Year Plan period marked a critical five-year transition for Yongnian's fastener industry—from large to strong, from isolated enterprises to collaborative clusters, and from traditional factor reliance to innovation-driven development. These achievements have not only cemented Yongnian's leading position in China's fastener industry but also laid a solid foundation for the 15th Five-Year Plan period and beyond.
