2025 Shanghai Fastener Expo Reveals Three Major Technologica
From May 18 to 20, 2025, the Shanghai International Fastener Industry Expo was grandly held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Hailed as the "global barometer of the fastener industry," the expo attracted over 1,200 enterprises from 58 countries and regions, with professional visitors exceeding 100,000 and on-site signed contracts totaling 2.8 billion yuan. The event prominently showcased three major technological transformations: eco-friendly surface treatment, intelligent inspection, and lightweight materials. Notably, eco-friendly processes like phosphorus-free film agents became the focal point, marking a substantial implementation phase for the industry's green transition under the "Dual Carbon" goals.
Eco-Friendly Surface Treatment Technology Takes Center Stage
The iterative upgrade of eco-friendly surface treatment technology emerged as the core highlight of the expo. In traditional fastener production, the pickling and phosphating process generates phosphorus-containing wastewater and heavy metal pollutants. The treatment cost accounts for 15%-20% of production expenses and struggles to meet the stringent requirements of the EU's REACH regulations. Dongguan Yingxing Environmental Protection Technology completely solved this pain point with its new generation of phosphorus-free film agents. Centered on nano-silane and free from harmful substances like phosphorus, chromium, and zinc, the product forms a 3-5μm protective film at a normal temperature of 25℃. It not only achieves "zero emissions" but also allows for direct drawing processing, eliminating the water washing and drying steps of traditional processes and reducing the single-ton treatment cost by 400 yuan. At the expo, Yingxing Technology signed annual supply agreements with a hundred enterprises, including Ningbo Yongnian and Hebei Jianke, with order amounts reaching 120 million yuan. BASF Kemetir showcased a nano-ceramic coating solution for the high-end market. By using physical vapor deposition (PVD) technology to form an AlCrN coating on the bolt surface, third-party testing showed that the coating achieved 5,000 hours in salt spray tests (5% sodium chloride solution), far surpassing the 720-hour standard of traditional galvanizing. They reached a 210 million yuan procurement intention on-site with wind power giant Goldwind Technology for tower connection bolts in offshore wind power equipment.
Intelligent Inspection Technology Gains Widespread Adoption
The popularization of intelligent inspection technology stood out as the second major trend. At the expo, multiple companies presented innovative achievements in AI visual inspection systems and online monitoring equipment. Shenzhen Zhongke Zhilian launched a six-axis visual inspection machine integrating 8 sets of HD cameras and 3D laser sensors. It can simultaneously inspect 16 indicators of bolts, including dimensional tolerance, thread precision, and surface defects. With an inspection accuracy of 0.001mm, the inspection speed increased to 1,200 pieces/minute—10 times more efficient than manual inspection—and the defective product identification accuracy reached 99.99%. This equipment has been adopted by Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory, shortening the fastener inbound inspection time from 2 hours to just 15 minutes. In the field of online monitoring, Qitai Sensing's wireless torque monitoring bolts attracted significant attention. Equipped with built-in micro-sensors, they can collect preload data in real-time and transmit it to a cloud platform via the NB-IoT network, successfully solving the problem of early warning for bolt loosening in large-scale equipment. On-site, they signed a 50 million yuan order with China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) to be applied to the fastening systems of nuclear power plant reactor pressure vessels.
Lightweight Materials Propel High-End Equipment Manufacturing
With the increasingly urgent demand for weight reduction in sectors like new energy vehicles (NEVs) and aerospace, titanium alloy and carbon fiber composite fasteners became the "star products" of the expo. Baoji Titanium Industry displayed TC4 titanium alloy bolts with a tensile strength of 1100MPa and a density only 60% that of steel. Already mass-supplied to the flap adjustment system of the C919 aircraft, despite a unit price of 800 yuan/piece, they attracted bulk procurement from COMAC and AVIC. Zhongfu Shenying's carbon fiber composite fasteners achieved a breakthrough in cost reduction. Through independently developed low-cost carbonization processes, the product price was reduced from 2,000 yuan/piece to 800 yuan/piece, successfully entering the NEV battery pack sector and signing a 180 million yuan supply agreement with BYD on-site.
At the concurrent "2025 Fastener Green Manufacturing Summit Forum," a relevant official from the Equipment Industry Department I of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) revealed that an additional 2 billion yuan in special funds will be allocated in 2025 to support eco-friendly process retrofits, focusing on promoting green technologies like phosphorus-free films and nano-coatings. It is estimated that by 2027, the penetration rate of eco-friendly surface treatment technologies in the industry will rise from the current 35% to 70%. This expo not only demonstrated the industry's technical prowess but also clarified the developmental direction towards greening, intelligence, and high-end manufacturing, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of the fastener industry.
