Yongnian fasteners: 14th Five-Year Plan transformation

On November 21, the Handan Municipal Government Information Office held a press conference on the "14th Five-Year Plan" High-Quality Development Handan Report – Yongnian Chapter. Government officials from Yongnian District presented the region's impressive achievements in high-quality development, with the accelerated transformation of the fastener industry drawing particular attention as the core engine driving regional economic upgrading.

As the "Capital of China's Fastener Industry," Yongnian anchored its industrial transformation as the main thread during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, achieving dual leaps in both scale and quality. Data shows that over the five-year period from 2020 to 2024, the district's fastener production volume grew steadily from 4.6 million tons to 7.1 million tons, output value rose from RMB 30.1 billion to RMB 50 billion, and tax revenue increased from RMB 381 million to RMB 679 million, with average annual growth rates reaching 9.07%, 10.68%, and 15.54%, respectively. The tax revenue growth rate significantly outpacing both production volume and output value growth highlights the continued optimization of the industrial structure and the steady enhancement of added value.

Alongside scale expansion, the cluster capabilities of Yongnian's fastener industry achieved a leap forward. Thanks to a solid industrial foundation and sustained innovation investment, the industrial cluster successfully gained recognition as a national-level specialized and innovative SME cluster, while also being designated as a provincial-level key cultivation cluster, making it one of the benchmark clusters in Hebei Province's equipment manufacturing sector. Even more noteworthy, the national fastener industry shared-mode monitoring pilot program was officially established in Yongnian, providing a "Yongnian solution" for industry-wide quality management.

The establishment of innovation platforms has injected strong momentum into industrial transformation. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Yongnian District prioritized the development of innovation infrastructure, successively establishing a provincial-level fastener product quality supervision and inspection center, a fastener industry research institute, and a national-level fastener public service platform, forming an integrated "testing–R&D–service" innovation support system. These platforms not only provide convenient technical services for local enterprises but have also attracted cooperation from companies in surrounding regions, further consolidating Yongnian's core position in the national fastener industry.

The improvement of talent cultivation systems has laid a solid foundation for the industry's long-term development. The press conference revealed that the country's first specialized fastener college has been officially launched in Yongnian. The college focuses on core areas including fastener production processes, quality inspection, and intelligent manufacturing, adopting a "school-enterprise cooperation, industry-education integration" training model to channel specialized technical talent directly into the industry. This initiative has effectively addressed the industry's shortage of skilled personnel, achieving alignment between talent development and industrial demand.

From "scale expansion" to "quality improvement," from "cluster aggregation" to "innovation-driven" development, Yongnian's fastener industry completed a remarkable transformation during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. For the national fastener industry as a whole, Yongnian's development practice offers replicable and scalable experience for the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. Looking ahead, as the benefits of innovation platforms continue to materialize and the talent pool continues to grow, Yongnian's fastener industry is poised to take more solid steps toward high-end, intelligent, and green transformation, continuing to lead the high-quality development of the national fastener industry.
